Hi there. Me and my fiance have a yearling who we just bought a little over a month ago. He is a beautiful palomino gelding. But after working, or trying to work with him, we are worried that he has been abused. He is soo scared and nervous of humans and won't let anyone pet him past his neck. He always keeps whoever is in with him right straight in front of him. When he gets unsure of anything he bolts. We have him in a round pen because he likes to jump fences to get away. But we are worried that we won't be able to do anything with him. At the same time we bought him, we also bought a 8 mo old colt who is now halter broke, broke to lead and is a total sweetheart. We were told when we bought them that the Palomino was a ranch mares offspring that they round up in the spring and brand and cut all at the same time and ship off to the sale barn. The guy we bought him from had bought him to run with his registered Palomino so that he wouldn't have to wean his registered one alone. But he was never worked with and now this is what we are facing. If anyone could give us some pointers or advice, we would gladly appreciate it and are willing to try almost anything. Please email me at kitkat_curtis@hotmail.com.
Thank you,
Kathy
