: : I recently adopted several wild horses. One 1 yr old filly has what appears to be numerous blisters on her nose. Her appetite isn't affected. It is voracious. No signs of respiratory problems, stool is firm. She is very social. Other than the blisters she appears in good health. What could cause the blisters and what can I use to treat it?
: : Thanks for your help :)
: Hi - These are probably warts, not real common, but not uncommon either. They normally go away on their own, given time or I have heard that there is a wart vaccine, however I suspect that it needs to be given before the onset of the warts. Years ago, the recommended treatment for warts was to smother them in mineral oil - just apply it daily and it will help kill them. Other than being unsightly there is really no danger or damage that they do. This is something that youngsters get occasionally. You might want to check the veterinary supply catalogs and see if there is anything out there as a treatment. Good luck.
They do look more like warts. I'll try them mineral oil. I noticed she has what appears to be little white warts around her right eye as well. Poor little thing is just a mess LOL. But she is so sweet. Pretty little filly except for those things on her nose. They don't seem to bother her any. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. It makes me feel better knowing that it is something common and not something like VS. :)
