: Please help me. my mare looks like she's lactating and her stomach is moving. we think she may be pregnant but we never red her and kept her at barns with no stallions. what are the signs of false pregnancy. Please email me to answer: mad_lil_gurl@yahoo.com

Hi Ally - Your mare may well be exhibiting signs of false pregnancy - which includes all the signs of a regular pregnancy however there is no foal resulting and the condition eventually goes away. Just to be on the safe side, I'd separate her from any other horses, and watch her closely until the signs stop. In some cases it's caused by a harmone imbalance which normally corrects itself. You could always have her checked out by your veterinarian who can palpate her and tell definitely if there is a foal in there - that way you could be better prepared in the event that she does foal. Good luck.
