Hi Jan - Years ago horse people in South Texas used a creosote based product that we could buy at local lumber yards - this is what railroad ties were treated with at the time. I have not used it in years, so don't know if it's still available. Also, last week in my local feed store I picked up a Farnam flyer on a product called Quitt - it's a feed supplement and they guarantee results in 7 days. You might want to check that out. Good luck.
